Lions Club International was started in 1917 with a vision to be the global leader in community and humanitarian service. To date, there are more than 1.4 million members serving in over 47,000 chapters in 200+ countries. Our chapter was started in 1967 as the first predominantly African American Lions Club in the country. We are proud to serve the Austin community. Where there's a need, there's a Lion!
Below are some of our current projects for the 2021-2022 year. Currently, we are working with Kealing Middle School once a month with their Days of Service as well as providing scholarships to high school seniors in the Austin area. Last year, we provided breakfast to teachers at Kealing Middle School to welcome them back for the school year and raised over $1,000 to provide fans for the elderly through the Family Eldercare Fan Drive while also raising money for the Central Texas Food Bank. We also provided Christmas presents for the Black Women in Business Toy Drive in December.
